Students come from various parts of the world, from different backgrounds, but all participate in the same: an intense program based solely on the Word of God, and its application to daily life - whoever you are, wherever you come from. The program is divided into two phases: the theoretical phase and the practical phase. That is to say, there is a time for learning, studying and asking questions, etc., and another to put into practice all that has been learned and share it with people.
The DTS program is divided into two phases: the theoretical phase (classroom) and the practical phase (outreach).
|
|
Theoretical Phase: 12 weeks that consist of classes, alone-time with God, small groups, intercession, practical work, outreach preparation (practical phase), among other things. The classes are given by a variety of experienced teachers from different countries.
Practical Phase: includes a missions outreach about 8 weeks long that may take place in any part of the world. During this expedition, you will have the opportunity to share about God through dramas, preaching and teaching, testimonies, and mercy ministries (acts of kindness).

Arts focus
The DTS will have an emphasis and focus on the arts. This doesn't mean you need any previous arts training, rather be open to learning from God's creativity. The topics we cover will be the same as a "normal" DTS, and there will be addtional opportunities to discover more about worship, art, God's creativity and our own creativity; we will use the arts in various capacities in evangelism and missions.

What Follows the DTS?
Although it is an option, after DTS not everyone joins YWAM. Many participate in a DTS to take time out to concentrate on God and consider whether He might be calling them to Christian ministry. There are numerous areas of society in which they choose to apply this (and other) calls. Of the many opportunities to serve, for those who choose to go further in a career with YWAM, successful completion of the DTS qualifies them to apply for hundreds of staff options. Graduating from the DTS also qualifies students to go on to YWAM's other training programs, such as the School of Worship (SOW) or Principles in Child & Youth Ministries (PCYM), and many others as those offered by the University of the Nations.
